House Diary 3.0

What a last couple weeks. Tons of decisions have been made but a ton more to go.

05/19/14 - We decided on lots of colors this week.

Here is what we have so far.

1.  Stone color/type is "Granbury" from Big Country stone. We would like no little pieces and a more block look with the random chopped stones. This may require the mason to "knock off" a few irregular edges. We would like some of the orange color, but VERY little.  We would like for it to look exactly like that sample pic I sent you (that is the sample from big Country)

2.  Mortar - White mortar with blonde sand from Big Country Stone.

3.  Trim color -  Sherwin Williams #SW7033 Brainstorm Bronze

4.  Shingle color -  Driftwood by Owens Corning from BMC.

5.  Stain Color for Corbels - working on finalizing this - should know in a day or so.

6.  Dryvit -  we have it narrowed down to two colors but may want to wait a bit until more rock is up to decide.  Colors are Oatmeal and Parchment in Fine Texture.

7.  Cast Stone - going by the small samples in the box we like Light Buff but two of the samples look exactly the same so we want to make sure. They are supposed to be getting me a two foot sample of Light Buff at Acme.

8.  Metal Roof Color - We picked Terratone made by McElroy Metal and sold by BMC.

05/20/14 - lots of people working today. Framer finishing up under porch ceilings, plumbers working on their stuff, and HVAC working on their stuff. Pretty cool. And Dustin the architect dropped by to see what all he drew in real life.

05/22/2014 - cabinets are in the works. Lots of exterior stain and trim colors picked out. Had an upstairs shower debacle but after a few nights and a $250 restocking fee we should be good to go.

Here are some pics of progress thus far.

05-30. Half of the stone is being delivered today. It may sit out there for a while but at least it's there.

Painter is also starting on the stain and trim.

06-05. Stain & Trim Paint

06-12. Started foaming!

6/17-  Rock started today. Also shingles going up!

House Diary 2.0

We are entering into the next phase. Finishing up framing and moving on to other things. Here are some recent pics

4/28/14 - more pics

05/01/14 - framing 90% done. Windows are in. Met with electrician and went over plans.

05-07. Roofing guys came out and finished putting felt on the roof. Great timing as we had 1" of rain just as soon as they finished.

05-12  this is the rock we may be using. Granbury Limestone. Kids hope it has a dinosaur footprint in it.

White mortar, blonde sand.

Had a great trip!  Finished up by throwing catch with my son on emerald green grass under the flapping of a Texas Rangers flag.

John Straka RHP

2013 Draft - Round 32, Pick No. 970: RHP John Straka, North Dakota St U, (6'3, 200 lbs)

He posted a 1.93 earned-run average in nine appearances (two starts) with the rookie club. Mavare logged 23.1 innings and allowed 14 hits while walking eight and striking out 34.

Mavare features an 88-91 mph fastball––touching 92 mph on occasion––to go with a mature late-breaking curveball and the occasional changeup. He had a 3.29 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 27.1 innings for the Surprise Rangers last summer.

Emerson Martinez P

Dominican Summer League (9/4): Rangers 8, Tigers 3
Texas wins championship series 3-1

The Rangers won the championship today just after noon CDT.  Castillo was 3-4 with two doubles and a walk; he batted a ridiculous .520/.586/.600 in six playoff games.  SS Juremi Profar (.435/.519/.435 in playoffs) went 3-4.  17-year-old Ariel Jurado struck out five in five innings and allowed three runs on six hits and a walk.  Emerson Martinez and closer Felix Carvallo both posted two scoreless frames with four strikeouts.

Engel Beltre #43 OF

Engel Manuel Beltré (born November 1, 1989) is a Dominican professional baseballoutfielder for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball. Beltré briefly lived in New York City, attending DeWitt Clinton High School in 2003.[1] As a child, he was a devoted Yankees fan.[2] Beltré was signed by the Boston Red Sox as an international free agent out of the Dominican in 2006 for $575k or $600k.[1]

On July 31, 2007, Beltré along with Kason Gabbard and David Murphy were traded from the Red Sox to the Texas Rangers for Éric Gagné.[3]

Beltré started the 2013 season with the Triple-A Round Rock Express. He was recalled by the Rangers on June 23, 2013 when Craig Gentry was added to the disabled list. He made his MLB debut on June 26 against the New York Yankees as a pinch runner in the ninth inning and was caught stealing second base. He got his first two major league hits the next day against Phil Hughes. Beltré was optioned back to Round Rock on August 2, and recalled on August 5.

Andrew B. Parrino (born October 31, 1985) is an American professional baseball player for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the San Diego Padres and theOakland Athletics.

Robinson Chirinos  #61 C / 3B

Robinson David Chirinos González (born June 5, 1984) is a Venezuelan professionalbaseball catcher for the Texas Rangers ofMajor League Baseball.

Following the 2010 season, Chirinos was added to the Cubs 40-man roster.[1]

After the 2010 season, Chirinos was included in a trade to the Tampa Bay Rays with Sam FuldHak-Ju LeeBrandon Guyer, and Chris Archer for Matt GarzaFernando Perez, andZac Rosscup.[2][3]

Chirinos was promoted to the majors for the first time on July 18, 2011, by the Rays.[4] He doubled in his first major-league at bat against A.J. Burnett of the New York Yankees. Chirinos hit his first Major League home run on August 3, 2011 against the Toronto Blue Jays. He also recorded his first RBI earlier in this game. Chirinos had an opportunity to make the big league club in 2012 out of spring training, but he suffered a concussion which prevented him from playing any baseball during the 2012 season.

Chirinos was traded to the Texas Rangers on April 8, 2013.[5]

Brett Nicholas 70 1B

First Baseman, Brett Nicholas

Brett Nicholas could have a real shot at contending for a bench spot on the Rangers in 2014. Last seasonwith Double-A Frisco, Nicholas hit .289 with 25 doubles, 21 homers and 91 RBI. His average, homers and RBI total were good for the most of any player on the team while his doubles were the second-most last season.

Nicholas should be considered to have a good shot at making the team if he performs well in spring training, especially after the poor second half Mitch Moreland had last season.Following the All-Star break,Moreland hit .183 with 10 homers and 20 RBI, finishing the season with a .232 batting average. Nicholas may not be contending for just first base, however, as he is expected to see time competing as a catcher as well.

A strong spring training for Nicholas could make him a legitimate contender for a backup role on the team in 2014.

Steve Buechele Coach AAA Ex Ranger

Steven Bernard Buechele (born September 26, 1961 in Lancaster, California) is a formerMajor League Baseball third baseman.
